I have just started reading the first book in A Song of Fire and Ice (A Game of Thrones)... and I had some questions. So if anyone out there in my flist land has read this series and is willing to talk a little bit about it with me, that would be great! :D

uh cut for possible spoilers even though I'm not very far in yet, just in case )

Wow. This is, no lie, my largest batch since Hugh Jackman in 2007 -- and there's still more imagery I wanted to icon but couldn't, since I'm catching a flight tomorrow & leaving my big laptop behind. Just means there's more coming eventually!

Either way, James Purefoy is so majestic and rugged and attractive, I can't even stand it. To me, he's like an unusual combination between Hugh Jackman & Jack Davenport & Mads Mikkelsen. I used him for a while as the NPC PB for Jackman's older brother, and I thought it worked awesomely. Iconset is a combination of period clothing & modern era.

ATTN: [info]buggerall folk! In efforts to maybe attempt the RPWriMo, who would like to do threads with me? I offer up Roxie, Mitchell, Tristan, and Dani :) I am up for doing non BA things, too, if anyone wants to throw some ideas my way.

NaNo Day one [01 Nov 2009|08:29pm]

Is officially a success, though I was hoping to get more done. But given how much I did today over all, I'd say I'm doing pretty good.

Word count: 2219

So about 500 words ahead of target for 50k by November 30th.

Also managed to do Recs, the Prophet, edit my K_K and sent that off to the Mods, and got another 250 done on November's D_D. Not to mention brunch with my folks, and watching the latest episode of Merlin with [info]kabal42.

Overall, a good day, so I'm feeling pretty confident. *crosses fingers*

And one more number:
[info]rpwrimo: 1615
From three threads. Not bad. :) At that rate, I'll be at 50k there at the end of the month, too.

November Rec Day! [01 Nov 2009|07:53am]

And I actually have quite a few fics to rec.  Mostly adult-rated, of course.

For the Public Good - Blamebrampton
Harry/Draco.  Post-war, long one-shot.  When London goes into a time of crisis, the Minister sends two of his best people to help out the Prime Minister of England.  - PG

OMG, I am so behind on this because everyone and their mother rec'd this back when it came out last year, but--read it if you haven't.  It's amazing.

The Boy Who Baked - unknown
Harry/Draco.  Post-war, long one-shot.  Instead of becoming an Auror, Harry decides to indulge his creative side, and ends up becoming one of the best bakers in Wizarding England.  - PG13

Request for source help [27 Oct 2009|07:16pm]

My NaNo this year takes place in New York City.  Now, I've only visited once, but there are some resources online I can use.  Still, it would be nice to have a go-to person for information that might not be easily found.  I doubt I'll be asking too often, but I might like someone who knows the city well to read the story afterwards and help punch things up a little to make it more believable as far as place feeling.

Is there anyone out there who lives/used to live in NYC who would be interested in helping that way?

The story itself is an Arthurian modern-day mystery story, with a dash of slash and a bit of discussion of past-lives and how they work.

Don't you hate it when the thing stopping you is always the simplest thing?  It's figured out.

Still stressed, but less so.  Would really like nothing else to explode on me today.  Or the next week or so even...

No Love [24 Oct 2009|02:43pm]

[ mood | Very high levels of frustration ]

So, after trying and failing to install a mood theme, I'm giving up after three days.

I'm really upset about it, because it was the first time I'd really tried, and I was really looking forward to having my own Katie McGrath mood theme.

I already had all sorts of plans for making my own, too, because I disagreed with the maker's choices on many of the moods.  And maybe another for Arthur/Merlin with [info]kabal42.

So, yeah, really not in a good place right now.

I'm going to go hide over there ====>
At least, until the latest Merlin episode is available and [info]kabal42 is on.
